Hey dear reader
It had been on my mind ever since it was featured in one of my favourite magazines Happinez. I didn’t order it from the magazine at the time because a Dutch deck is difficult to use with my international crew of friends and family. Eventually I came to order it on bol.com in English. And what a deck it is! I am loving it.
The deck comes with a guidebook and the both are nicely tucked into a box that you can store on your bookshelf. Mine hasn’t left the table since it arrived though 🙂 I am pulling a card from my new deck every day now for guidance and inspiration.
The cards are big but not impossible to handle swiftly. The overall quality of the deck and the book is great. I also like the matte finish of the cards. And that smell of fresh print… simply divine!
The artwork by Jena DellaGrottaglia is fresh and contemporary yet it reflects deep, ancient and tribal wisdom. The beautiful colours and figures awaken my innate reverence for nature and the spiritual. All 64 (!) cards are just as pretty.
The guidebook is well written, honestly I read it from cover to cover once I started. The authors share such beautiful wisdom in such an unassuming and inspiring way. First the essence of the card is explained, then follows the invitation or the medicine, depending on the upright or upside down position of the card. Everything I read totally resonated. The three authors obviously know what they are talking about: Alberto Villoldo is the founder of a society that is dedicated to the bridging of ancient shamanic traditions with modern medicine and psychology, his Chilean wife Marcela Lobos is initiated in the shamanic traditions of the Amazon and the Andes. And those two combined forces with powerhouse Colette Baron-Reid, who has published tons of best-selling oracle decks and books in 27 languages. Need I say more?
To conclude, maybe one little anecdote to illustrate how magical the cards can be: yesterday David (my man) pulled out the Hummingbird card. And I pulled out the Beloved. This morning I did an online exchange card reading with my friend Sophie, eager to show her my new oracle deck of course :). While I was shuffling the cards, one fell out: the Hummingbird. Since I figured this was probably due to lingering energy I put it back in the pack, tapped it again and shuffled it thoroughly. Then I made three piles and Sophie chose the middle one. The card on top was: the Beloved!!! And just now I randomly took one card out of the deck to take a close-up pic for this post: again, the Beloved… Guess some cards just really need to be seen…
So it is probably clear by now that I am a big fan. So far no negatives, it’s been such a pleasure to explore this entire deck, every day again I am impressed by the beautiful artwork and powerful messages. For everybody who wants to treat themselves or a friend who is open to spirituality to a wonderful gift: this oracle deck absolutely cuts it. No doubt about it.
