Doing one card readings on a daily basis is a great way for beginners to get familiar with the cards and their meanings, and it is a useful practice for any tarot lover to keep a good connection with the cards. At the same time drawing a card in the morning with a nice cup of tea or coffee offers a practical alternative for that meditation that -despite all the good intentions- never happens anyway. It is a moment of quiet quality time with yourself that helps to set an intention for the day. If your mornings are too crazy to sit for ten minutes with your cards, and getting up a bit earlier is no option either, why not do a little reading before bed? Instead of reading a book. It is perfect for winding down, to process the past day and to set the intention for the next day.
I usually put a clean, pretty table cloth first and burn some incense. Then I select the deck that speaks to me from my little tarot shelf. I also like to light a candle and lay out some crystals to set the mood. A nice (hot) drink definitely adds to the flavour! Small rituals are such pleasure and work like portals into another, more sacred, mindset. And everyone’s ritual is theirs to develop! If it is not your thing and you just want to get to the point that is also fine. After the little opening ritual I shuffle the cards while contemplating my question. Usually it’s simply ‘what energy will this day bring?’, but sometimes other questions arise, like ‘what should I focus on to get the desired results?’, or ‘what do I need to release before I take the next step?’. Whatever the question, it is best to keep it open, so no yes-no questions or anything too precise. You want your intuitive knowing to be activated, you don’t want the Tarot to dictate you exactly how to live your life. So asking things like whether or not you should date someone, will get you shifty results. What with a card like, say, the ten of swords in this case? This could be interpreted as overthinking the matter, which would make sense as an answer but at the same time doesn’t really clarify whether or not you should date this person! Once again, Tarot is not there to tell you how to live your life, it is only a tool to help you discover your own deep truth.
You can see some examples of my daily card readings on my instagram, and I recently got a TikTok account and regularly post little daily card reading vids on there as well. There are tons of inspiring posts all over Facebook too, of course, on my own wall and beyond.
I wish you many insightful readings, inspired inspiration, and most of all, balance, harmony and inner peace. So much love!
